All eyes are on Amy Barton (née Wyatt) in Emmerdale after she was among those whose limo dramatically plunged into an icy lake - though actress Natalie Ann Jamieson’s life is a lot less tense off-screen. In nail-biting scenes, Amy and more than 10 other villagers saw themselves at risk after their limos crashed en route to a night out. The drama unfolded for Amy in particular as she attempted to free herself from the lake, only for the ice to give way beneath her. But in a shocking turn of events, she caught a glimpse of another body trapped under the water - though the identity of the individual isn't yet clear.

Having joined the ITV soap back in 2019, actress Natalie has become a familiar face on our screens. After it was announced that she’d be joining the show, former Amy Barton actress Chelsea Halfpenny showed her support for the star. “Go on, girl!,” she wrote on X. “Smash it.” In response, Natalie commented: “Thank you, lovely lass!! I can't wait to get started. I'm sure I'm going to have a smashing time in the Dales.”.

During her time on the iconic show, Natalie has found her character at the centre of some high-profile storylines, including one which saw her and her husband Matty navigate their different views on beginning a family. She was even nominated in the Best Newcomer category at the TV Choice Awards six years ago. Originally from Newcastle, Natalie trained at the Rose Buford College before graduating in 2011. Prior to her role on Emmerdale, the soap star secured credits in a number of other shows on the small screen including Vera and Doctors.

Natalie even had a connection to co-star Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt) prior to her gig after the pair attended the same youth theatre as kids. “When I was there I actually performed a play that Laura had written, which was amazing,” she told The Emmerdaily, Metro reports. “We also have the same agent. So when I was auditioning for Amy, it was really lovely to have somebody there who I already knew. It just makes it a lot more relaxed.”.

Meanwhile, since joining the ITV show, she has also appeared on the likes of Pointless Celebrities and Celebrity Mastermind, where her specialist topic was Absolutely Fabulous. Off-screen, Natalie has been in a relationship with her partner, Ali Ward, for 14 years. While her Emmerdale character may have walked down the aisle last year, Natalie has revealed that she won’t be tying the knot anytime soon.

“It’s funny as leap day fell on the day before I was filming my Emmerdale wedding. I replied, ‘They’ve just been saying on the news how it’s a really outdated tradition. Besides, I am getting married tomorrow at Emmerdale. One wedding is enough for now’,” she told the Mirror in April. And when speaking about the prospect of her own big day she added: “I am a very practical person and I've always thought I wouldn't opt for a traditional white wedding dress, but rather one that I can wear again.

“When people tell me how much they have spent on a wedding, I think, ‘You could probably go around the world twice with the amount of money involved’. And Ali and I would definitely prefer to do that.”. Away from acting, Natalie previously hosted The Ad Libbing podcast alongside Ali. As part of the show, the duo interviewed celebrities from across the world of music, comedy and acting and guests included Anthony Costa, Joe McElderry and fellow Emmerdale star Amy Walsh.
