The employment landscape isn't as bleak as anticipated post-Budget, suggests a report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). They've found a slight increase in employer confidence heading into the new year, hinting that 2025 may not be as bad as some predict. Despite a decline in the demand for staff, hope hasn't vanished completely; insights from a study involving 634 employers indicate an improved sentiment regarding the UK economy's current state, though it remains tempered.

The recruitment body noted optimism for future hiring, particularly amongs medium-sized enterprises poised to recruit more permanent and temporary workers. REC's chief, Neil Carberry, commented: "There can be no doubt that the Budget created headwinds for companies all over the country, but the data shows that the economy is bigger than Government policy, with employers’ confidence holding steady as we head into 2025.
