LUKE Littler has already made his mark on home town Warrington Wolves' stadium as it prepares to honour him. For the world darts champion’s name has been sprayed over its normal sponsors. The Wolves are changing the title of the Halliwell Jones Stadium for one night only, with the 18-year-old being able to do what he wants.

The existing sponsor has been covered up with red tape stuck over it. Now before Friday's clash with Catalans Dragons, changes have been made, with Littler’s name front and centre. The teenager will lead out the sides for the Super League match after swapping his South Stand season ticket for, as chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick puts it, the prawn sandwich brigade.

Fitzpatrick also explained the reasoning behind the decision. He told Sky Sports: "we decided to name this fantastic stadium after one of Warrington's favourite sons. "So it is going to be the Luke Littler Stadium for one night only. "There is so much going on, we have 5,000 Luke Littler heads that are going to be distributed throughout the game.

Fans have reacted to the change on social media. One posted: "Wow, what an honour!". A second wrote: "Good move from Warrington, bringing a little bit of attention to themselves and the sport in the process.". A third commented: "That's awesome.". A fourth said: "Such a heartfelt tribute!".

Another joked: "Might as well rename Old Trafford to Luke Littler stadium.". Littler has already paraded the trophy around Old Trafford this year. He displayed the Sid Waddell Trophy to the 74,000 supporters in the crowd during Manchester United's 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

He was also honoured by his home town as he was named an citizen of honour. Warrington Buses have also displayed a glowing tribute on the electronic board at the front of one of their vehicles. Night 1 - Belfast: Humphries beat Dobey 6-1. Night 2 - Glasgow: Littler beat Humphries 6-5.
