In yet another blow to the 2025 series of Dancing On Ice, a second pro skater has sustained an injury. Just one week after Vanessa Bauer was forced to quit the show after competing alongside Chris Taylor, Charlie Brooks’ partner will be replaced this weekend. Eric Radford, a Canadian ice skating pro, is unable to perform, meaning Brendyn Hatfield, who was eliminated two weeks ago with Ferne McCann, will fill his place.

An official message from the Dancing On Ice social media pages read: ‘Unfortunately, Eric Radford has sustained an injury during rehearsals. ‘Following medical advice, he will not be able to skate with Charlie Brooks this week. Brendyn Hatfield will skate with Charlie. ‘We wish Eric a quick recovery and hope to see him back on the ice next week.’. The release of the statement had several viewers saying the same thing, declaring ‘Not another one!’ amid a series of setbacks for the skating stars.

After just one performance, celebrity contestant and comedian Josh Jones had to withdraw when he hurt himself in training.

Josh, whose first routine was a comedic number to the Scissor Sisters, later informed hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern that he had a ‘twisted ankle’. But he wasn’t actually the first celeb to have to pull out this year, as, before cameras even started rolling for the live shows, Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey confirmed she could not carry on. The cyclist and swimmer had been paired with Sylvain Longchambon but had to cut her DOI journey short after ending up on crutches.

As for German professional Vanessa, she has been replaced by Robin Johnstone, who will continue in the competition with Love Islander Chris. The new couple performed their first number last weekend, and despite Chris taking a spectacular tumble, they survived the third elimination. Unfortunately for rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave, he received the fewest combined votes from the public and judges and was eliminated.

His exit came after two weeks of uproar from audiences who branded Dancing On Ice a ‘joke’, firstly when Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey was voted off, and again when Towie alum Ferne got the chop. It’s safe to say it’s been a controversial series of Dancing On Ice thus far, given the absence of the famous skate-off, which allows couples the opportunity to save themselves by performing one more time.

However, for the first three eliminations, no such lifeline was available, meaning the pair with the lowest total votes and points would automatically leave the competition. Having sparked fury among viewers at home, it was announced last weekend that the bottom two format will return this coming week. Battling it out to remain in the show are the likes of The Traitors finalist Mollie Pearce, reality star Dan Edgar, Corrie’s Sam Aston, retired footballer Anton Ferdinand, and presenter Michaela Strachan.
