Hugh Jackman's BST Hyde Park concert replacement has been announced. The Greatest Showman star was forced to pull out of his concert on July 6 due to scheduling conflicts. A statement said: "Due to an unforeseen conflict in my schedule, I am deeply disappointed to announce I will be unable to perform in Hyde Park this July 6th. This was a stage I truly was looking forward to being on. No less in a city that I love so much. Thank you to all people who've purchased tickets. For ticket refunds, please go to the link in my bio for more information. London, I will see you soon!".
Now, a huge pop star is set to perform during the slot previously held by Hugh. After selling out her initial date, US pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is set to perform a second headline show at the British Summer Time festival this summer. The 25 year old On Purpose singer will grace the Hyde Park stage in London on Sunday, July 6, following her July 5 performance.
Special guests Clairo and Beabadoobee are also slated to join the line-up. The news comes hot on the heels of Carpenter's first two Grammy wins earlier this month, where she bagged the best pop vocal album award for her sixth studio record Short n' Sweet and the best pop solo performance award for her summer hit Espresso. The former Disney child star was up for six Grammys in total, including nods for best new artist, record of the year for Espresso, song of the year for catchy tune Please Please Please, and album of the year for Short n' Sweet.
Carpenter also wowed the Grammy audience with a medley of hits from her award-winning album. Her disco-infused track Espresso, which topped the UK charts for seven weeks, was crowned BBC Radio 1's biggest song of 2024, beating out competition from Charli XCX and Chappell Roan.
The singer first rose to fame as a teenager on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World and released her debut album Eyes Wide Open in 2015 under Hollywood Records. She later signed with Island Records and released her gold-certified fifth studio album, Emails I Can't Send, which featured the hit track Feather, her first UK top 20 single. She also toured as The Vamps support act on their Middle of the Night Tour back in 2017.
Since September, Carpenter has been dazzling audiences worldwide with her Short n' Sweet Tour, known for its theatrical performances and sparkling costumes. She also recently served as the opening act for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Latin America, Australia, and Singapore.
The British Summer Time festival will feature pop sensations Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan, country artist Zach Bryan, and Jeff Lynne's ELO. Last year's event boasted headline acts from Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, R&B vocalist SZA, pop icon Robbie Williams, and country-pop queen Shania Twain.
Tickets for the July 6 show will be available for general sale from 10am on Monday, February 24. Like this story?
