If your shower screen is looking a bit grimy even after cleaning, you might be using the wrong products. But don't worry, there's a simple trick to get your glass gleaming in just 10 minutes. Shower doors can be a pain to keep clean as soap, body oils and water minerals cling stubbornly to the surface, no matter how much elbow grease you put in. It's crucial to give your shower glass a good scrub at least once a week, as it can harbour bacteria and moisture, leading to mould growth - which is an even bigger headache to shift.
This past week, I've been struggling to get my shower door spotless and decided to scour the internet for solutions. And guess what?. A super easy way to banish those pesky shower door stains is to use washing-up liquid and lemon juice - both are champions at tackling tough grime. It might sound odd, but lemon juice, packed with citric acid, can dissolve limescale and help break down soap scum. Plus, it's mildly antibacterial and will leave your glass clean, shiny and streak-free, reports the Express.
Washing-up liquid, designed to cut through grease on dishes, works wonders on body oil and soap marks on glass too. Combine lemon juice and washing-up liquid and you've got a powerful stain-busting solution that makes it a breeze to wipe away grime without having to scrub for hours. All you need to do is combine equal parts of lemon juice and warm water in an empty spray bottle. Then, add a few squirts of washing-up liquid.
Be cautious as I found out the mixture can get quite frothy, so be sure to quickly secure the cap to prevent it from spilling out of the spray bottle. Once the spray cap is on, give the bottle a good shake to blend everything together. Generously spray your shower glass and then leave it for 10 minutes. It's crucial to allow the cleaning solution time to dissolve the dirt and stains on the glass. Ensure your shower door is facing inside the bathtub or shower so when you spray your cleaning solution it doesn't end up drenching your floor. After the time is up, I simply used a clean cloth to wipe down my shower door and the stains came off easily.
