We're used to watching Sally Nugent deliver the latest headlines during BBC Breakfast, but away from our screens, the journalist and TV presenter is thought to reside in a stunning £1.4million home. The 53-year-old has been at the heart of BBC Breakfast since it was announced in October 2021 that she would permanently replace Louise Minchin - joining her co-presenters Dan Walker, Charlie Stayt, and Naga Munchetty on the red sofa. With over 25 years of journalism experience, Sally has also been a sports reporter for BBC News and appeared on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2023.
Away from bulletins and breaking news, Sally lives in Greater Manchester, and we've taken a peek inside her remarkable four-bedroom home, which boasts an in-house gym and a piano. She is thought to live in the £1.4million home with her adorable Cavapoo, having split from her husband, Gavin Hawthorn, in 2023, with the age of their son unknown. While she keeps her family life under wraps, she did reveal her transformation in the home during lockdown. Sally transformed one of the rooms into her very own home gym, complete with a spin bike.
She posted a photo of the bike positioned in a spacious room adorned with exquisite parquet flooring, captioning it, "This is my before picture for the #bigbikein. No one will ever see the 'after'. Really enjoyed my 30 miles. The brilliant @louiseminchin is still pedalling. She's doing a hundred! #nhs #stayathome #savelives.". Not just about fitness, Sally also indulges in music with a traditional piano in the abode, where she can hone her skills. She's previously mastered Adele's beloved song 'Make You Feel My Love', using a metronome to guide her.
Her home's aesthetic is minimalist, yet she brings a touch of magic with fairy lights entwined around a staircase bannister. During daylight, natural light pours in through a large window, illuminating the stairway and a windowsill adorned with cherished family photos. Her bedroom exudes understated elegance, with long gold drapes, a cream carpet, and beige walls creating a serene ambience. The space is uncluttered, featuring only a double bed and a mirror, as seen in several selfies she's previously shared.
During an interview with Radio Times, Sally gave a closer glimpse into life at home as she shared, "My sofa is in my kitchen diner and there's a giant flat-screen TV on the wall." She also said at the time, "During the lockdown, we all got hooked on Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix, but it'll come as no surprise that I'm a news junkie.". Sharing a glimpse into her morning routine, Sally previously told The Sunday Times, "My alarm goes off at 3.45am. I don't have a loud, scary one that gives you a coronary. I use a light box that gently wakes me. I have a back-up phone alarm set every five minutes from 3.50am. Touch wood, I've never had to use it.
