Foo Fighters frontman, family man and ‘the nicest man in rock’ - Dave Grohl shocked fans back in September by admitting he had been cheating on his wife of 21 years. Not only that, but he had also fathered a love child with a woman who is not his wife.
Now, almost six months later, his nice man image is in tatters and more details are starting to emerge about his infidelities. Fans finally found out this week that Jennifer Young is the mother of Dave Grohl’s youngest girl, born on August 1, 2024, but, apart from her name being made public for the first time, not much else is known about the baby’s mother.
So far, no-one seems to be disclosing how they met, how long their romantic relationship lasted or whether it was just a one-night-stand. We do know that Jennifer is a rock and roll fan with a number of tattoos on her body - including ones featuring Paul McCartney lyrics and Metallica's band logo. She lives with her mother in Los Angeles, and often takes their daughter for walks in their neighbourhood, which is said to be in a modest area.
It was Dave Grohl who broke the news of his affair and love child in a statement on Instagram leaving his legions of fans in shock back in September. “I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he wrote. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.
"I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”. Meanwhile, the Foo Fighters' frontman, 56, is trying to make things work with his wife of 21 years Jordyn Blum who initially wanted a divorce, but couldn't face splitting the family unit up. The Times Like These rocker has been married to director and actress Jordyn since 2003 and together they are parents to daughters Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and 10-year-old Ophelia Saint.
But this isn't the first time Dave has been caught cheating. Dave was previously married to Jennifer Leigh Youngblood, from 1994 until they separated in 1996, divorcing in 1997 after he allegedly cheated on her, according to The Guardian. The publication wrote: "The admitted infidelities that led to his divorce from first wife Jennifer Youngblood in 1997. [This] caused the departure from the Foo Fighters ranks of Pat Smear, latterly Nirvana's auxiliary guitarist and a close friend of Youngblood.".
Discussing his divorce in 1999 with Melody Maker, Dave said: “I was 25, my wife was even younger. We weren’t ready to get married. I miss her a tonne, she’s the funniest goddamn weirdo you ever met in your life. Absolutely adorable. It would have been better had we not got married. But you live and you learn.”.
