This Christmas, fans are looking forward to seeing much-loved actor Toby Stephens back on-screens as he prepares to take part in the two-part BBC series, The Split. His character, Archie, will take Hannah (played by Nicola Walker) on a date and we already know that their encounter doesn't go too well as he is left alone in a bar, without explanation.
Toby has had many acting successes over the years and was even nominated for a Saturn Award, for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Bond villain Gustav Graves in Die Another Day, in 2002. Other claims to fame include: The Machine (2013), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), The Journey (2016), and Hunter Killer (2018). Along with many TV stints on the small screen.
Away from his job, Toby has had a really difficult year, following the tragic loss of his famous mum Dame Maggie Smith. Here we explore the highs, lows and life growing up. Toby was born on April 21, 1969 at the Middlesex Hospital in Fitzrovia, London to incredibly famous parents Sir Robert Stephens and Dame Maggie Smith.
Along with his brother Chris Larkin (who ditched his famous surname) the brothers were educated at Aldro School and Seaford College in West Sussex. Toby then trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). His first film debut landed in Orlando, based on Virginia Woolf's novel. More recently, he landed himself the role of Lionel in the Netflix hit, One Day. Toby also voiced the character of gentleman ghost in Batman: Caped Crusader.
