If you’re already struggling to think of presents for your loved ones then the Botanical Collection from Lego could provide an unexpected solution to the problem. It’s a long time since Lego has only been for kids. Many sets nowadays are designed almost exclusively for adults, with things like Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship Endurance and a huge version of Jabba’s Sail Barge from Return of the Jedi – things that no child is going to be able to afford with pocket money alone.

But adult sets don’t just mean big, expensive vehicles. There are lots of more organic or artistic designs, from a kingfisher bird to a tuxedo cat, but what’s been especially popular in recent years is the Botanical Collection, which features all sorts of cleverly designed plants and flowers.

That makes them ideal presents for things like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, with a number of sets available now that have been designed specifically with those days in mind. Released for the first time this January, this is the latest in a series of bouquet sets which can be displayed separately or put together to create even bigger displays. This one features some particularly complex flower designs, with daisies, cornflowers, eucalyptus, elderflowers, roses, butter cups, boat orchids, a waterlily dahlia, and a bellflower.

Price: £54.99. Most of the bouquet sets are made up of lots of different flower types but this one features multiple variations of the classic red rose. You can still mix and match it with other sets though and there’s also several sprigs of baby’s-breath (aka gypsophila) included as well. That makes it particularly suitable for Valentine’s Day, especially as making Lego with someone else can be a very enjoyable – even romantic – experience.
