Liverpool could have FOUR stars sidelined for their key clash with Manchester United. The Reds welcome Ruben Amorim’s side to Anfield on Sunday afternoon. A victory would see Arne Slot’s side extend their lead at the top of the table to potentially nine points.
It would also see United’s woes continue, having already lost their last four games ahead of their trip to Merseyside. But they could potentially take advantage of ongoing injury issues against Liverpool. Conor Bradley and Federico Chiesa are already ruled out - albeit the Italian is getting closer to full fitness. Liverpool also picked up a fresh issue in their 5-0 win against West Ham.
Defender Joe Gomez was withdrawn with a hamstring injury, and Slot did not give an optimistic verdict on his fitness. He said: “You saw today an injury of Joe Gomez. If a player says he wants to stop, he has to be changed. “In a sprint, then we all know it’s a hamstring and we all know it’s going to take a while before he is back. I don’t know how long but he will be out for quite a bit. These situations can happen in a season.”.
His absence could see either Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate recalled. The French defender has missed the last seven league games with a knee injury, albeit Slot suggested he could be back in training this week. It leaves the Dutchman with a dilemma over which defender to include. But Quansah has already laid down a gauntlet should he earn a start.
