West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski suffered a what initially appeared to be a worrying injury during his side's 1-0 win against Southampton as he was taken off on a stretcher following a challenge by Nathan Wood. Fabianski looked in a bad way as he was given oxygen and a neck brace after Wood jumped up for an aerial battle with the Polish shot stopper, who was brought down and landed awkwardly.

Wood was booked for the challenge and attention immediately turned to Fabianski's condition as he was quickly surrounded by medics, who came to his aid. His fellow goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale even came over from the opposite end of the pitch to check on him - earning huge plaudits from supporters.

A replay of the challenge on Fabianski was not shown on TV, with Ramsdale's presence by his side also an indication he was hugely concerned for his fellow ex-Arsenal goalkeeper. Thankfully Fabianski hadn't been taken to hospital and was being treated in the changing room at St Mary's. They then added that he took his place in the dugout in the second half to watch the rest of the match.

Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui said: “Fortunately he was conscious in the dressing room. I talked with him and the doctor said he was feeling well, or better. So I am positive about him and he showed he had more or less recovered his senses. When it happened I was very afraid, and feared the worst. We were worried.
