Salmon is a versatile fish that pairs well with a variety of ingredients, from fresh fruits and veggies to indulgent foods like cream cheese. The texture of the salmon can make or break a dish, which is why it's crucial to cook it correctly. British culinary queen Mary Berry has a simple tip for achieving perfect salmon every time. In her book Foolproof Cooking, she shares that the positioning of the salmon fillets on the baking tray is key.

She advises: "Place the salmon fillets fairly close to each other on the baking tray so that they keep each other moist and don't dry out during cooking." This method works best when cooking multiple pieces of salmon, making it ideal for large meals or meal prep. Before cooking, remove the skins and season the raw fish with plenty of salt and pepper, then top with a mix of lemon juice, zest, and fresh parsley.

The salmon needs less than 20 minutes in the oven, after which it "will become a matte pink colour all the way through", according to Mary. Ingredients. 280g full-fat cream cheese. Method. Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/Gas 6, and line a baking tray with grease-proof paper, reports the Express. In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, parmesan, garlic and chives, then season with salt and pepper and give it another stir. Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper and evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over each piece.
