Mason Mount has released an emotional statement to Manchester United fans after Ruben Amorim confirmed he would be sidelined for “several weeks” with another injury. Mount has been hampered by repeated injuries since joining United from Chelsea for £55million in the summer of 2023. He has been restricted to just 32 appearances in all competitions for the club and suffered yet another blow when he was forced off after just 14 minutes of the 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The 25-year-old midfielder had appeared a good fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system but is now set for another frustrating time in the treatment room. Mount wrote on Instagram: “Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant.
“United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith. I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved.”.
Amorim has promised to support Mount through another spell on the sidelines after his injury further weakened his squad. “He's really sad," Amorim said. "In the dressing room he was really, really sad so we need to help him. When player is in this moment with a lot of injuries and with this schedule, it's really hard for them. We will try to find a better way to recover these kind of guys like Mount and Luke Shaw because after a few weeks and a few months they will be ready to cope with a lot of things.".
