A man tested London's most expensive burger, leaving people gobsmacked at the cost. Social media content creator Carmie Sellito is known for trying out luxury food items and this time ventured into Gordon Ramsay's swanky eatery in Harrods, Gordon Ramsay Burger, shelling out a hefty £85 for a single burger.
The luxurious 1849 Burger comes loaded with succulent Wagyu beef, sharp pecorino cheese, rich mushroom ragu, decadent truffle porcini aioli, aged balsamic vinegar, fresh watercress and is accompanied by a side of indulgent truffle parmesan fries. Eager to share his experience, Carmie took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the gourmet treat. He said: "Honestly seeing the burger in front of me felt so overwhelming but it's probably because I spent £85 on it so if you could show any kind of support to this video that would be amazing. The truffle fries, by the way, were so good. I rate them ten out of ten.
"I have really high hopes for the burger. It's time to cut the burger in half so you guys can see how it looks on the inside.". After cutting it, he said: "I mean it looks okay but there's no gold in there." However, after sinking his teeth into the posh patty, Carmie's excitement turned into dejection as he confessed the flavour was "not that good" and declared himself "so disappointed." Undeterred, he persisted with a few more bites, only to confirm his initial letdown, lamenting that it simply "just didn't taste that good.".
Carmie was left feeling "so sad" and described his dining experience as "really bad" after not enjoying a burger that didn't warrant a clean plate, and to add insult to injury, he was charged £6.95 for a bottle of still mineral water. The total damage? A hefty £132.44, service charge included.
His Instagram reel from Thursday (February 13) has since amassed 656,000 views, more than 6,900 likes, and a flurry of comments echoing his dismay. Many were aghast at the burger's price, with one comment saying "£85 on a burger should be illegal" and another stating "no burger is worth £85.".
One user chimed in: "It didn't even look that good", backing up Carmie's less-than-stellar review. Another person remarked on the "obscene amount of money, definitely not justified.". Meanwhile someone else questioned the logic behind such pricing: "How good can a burger get? They are usually delicious but how much more delicious can they be for £45 more than an average one? I struggle to see how this price can be justified!".
A different individual noted a common misconception: "Just because something is overpriced doesn't mean it's good – happens time and time again in London especially.". Others suggested that the sky-high price tag was more about "paying for the brand" rather than the actual meal, pointing out Gordon Ramsay's celebrity status as a chef and restaurateur. Yet, another diner urged foodies not to dismiss eateries owned by stars, recounting their own positive experiences: "Been to at least 4 Gordon Ramsay spots and they were all stellar.
"Some of the best meals of my life actually. Ordered nice cuts of meat though, Wagyu filet, Wellington, lamb chops.". They added: "Not ordering a freaking burger at a place like those and def not an £85 burger. Had a burger, though at Bobby Flay's spot in Atlantic City and that was great too.".
"A little pricey but was worth it. I know some places are gimmicky and trash but you don't want to write off everybody, you'd be doing yourself a disservice.". Fans of the celebrity chef have been voicing their support. One admirer commented on Carmie's Instagram post: "Well Gordon rocks, I would just love this.".
Meanwhile, another follower exclaimed: "It looks delicious! ". Gordon Ramsay's prestigious restaurant located in Harrods is making waves as the first Gordon Ramsay Burger venue outside of Las Vegas and the unique offering of its kind in the UK. Located on the fourth floor of the iconic department store, the establishment boasts "100% UK heritage beef patties" alongside a selection of chicken, seafood, and vegetarian dishes.
