THE mystery surrounding missing Brit Charlotte Peet has deepened after three new pictures have emerged of the journalist alive and well. Brazilian police released two images which are said to show the 32-year-old taking a selfie on a bus to Rio de Janeiro and as well as a third of her sitting at a bar at Copacabana beach.

The bus selfies appear to have been taken on the day she first went missing on February 8, say Brazilian media outlet Globo. The third image of Charlotte is reportedly from February 15. Police sources have previously told Brazilian media Charlotte arrived in Rio at night on February 8 before staying at a hostel in Copacabana until February 17.

She is then believed to have travelled to another hostel in the neighbourhood of Botafogo up until Monday. It is unclear where she may be now. Police always maintained that it was possible Charlotte could have voluntarily cut off contact with her loved ones.

It comes after police spent weeks searching for any sign of Charlotte. Her phone was still active as of last Friday but all of her calls had been going unanswered, according to Brazilian cops. Investigators also made several calls to the Brit's device on Monday but were unable to get hold of her.

This led authorities to expand the search, checking hospitals and morgues in both Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, so far without success. It is unclear if officers are able to use GPS location data from the phone to help with their search. Another area that was being looked into involved her final post online.

Just four days before her disappearance, Charlotte posted a message in a Facebook group. The post saw her looking for a double room in London — suggesting she may have been considering returning home. She wrote: "Hello. I'm looking for a double room in South West/East London: East Dulwich, Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham, Balham, Streatham, Camberwell etc or would consider venturing east to the right place.

"I'm a 32-year-old journalist, friendly, respectful and organised. I love reading, keeping active and chatting to friends. "Let me know if I sound like a good fit! Thanks!". Peet, who has been working as a journalist in Brazil since 2020, briefly returned to London at the end of 2023 after her family expressed concerns about what they described as her “party life” in Brazil.
