Following the success of the first season of romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, the show is coming back for series two and this time round, the cast has got bigger. The show stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell in the leading roles and follows the unexpected relationship between an unconventional American Rabbi and an agnostic woman who co-hosts a podcast about relationships.
Netflix has cast Adam's real-life wife and Gossip Girl icon Leighton Meester for the second season, alongside the pair as a guest star. She will play Abby, who is described as "Joanne’s (Bell) middle school nemesis who is now an Instagram mommy influencer.".
It's currently unclear whether Leighton and Adam will share screen-space, but it would be a travesty if Netflix cast the pair in the same show and didn't give them any scenes together. Also guest starring is The Resident star Miles Fowler who stars as Lenny and is said to be "Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate who gets set up with Morgan.".
Leighton and Adam are no strangers to working together as they met on the set of The Oranges in 2011 and went on to work alongside one another in Life Partners and River Wild. Nobody Wants This aired its first season on the streaming platform last September and was widely appreciated by fans and critics. Just a month later, due to the amazing response, the show was renewed for a second season.
Aside from Kristen and Adam, the series also stars Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn. It has a 7.9 rating on IMDb from 55,000 votes and a 94% Tomatometer rating on review website Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have been raving about Leighton's casting and have flocked to Reddit to share their excitement. One person expressed: "Can't wait to see Leighton Meester in another comedy. She's great in Single Parents and Making History.".
Another fan commented: "Yay, I hope Leighton Meester will have a scene with Adam Brody, like they did in Single Parents." Somebody else wrote: "Missed opportunity if they don't get Dax Shepard to play Leighton Meester's character's husband to go full meta.".
A fourth penned: "Oh stop, having Leighton is going to be so much fun. I adore this!!" while a fifth added: "The millennial dream cast continues.".
