Actress Kim Sae-Ron's cause of death has been revealed after she was found dead at her home at the age of 24. The Netflix star found fame on the streaming platform's show Bloodhounds. She was a rising star and was tragically found by a friend who alerted the police on Sunday. Kim Sae-ron has appeared in a number of film and TV shows since beginning her acting career at just nine years old. She grew in popularity as a child star in 2009 film A Brand New Life and 2010's The Man From Nowhere. The South Korean star went on to be cast in more leading roles in 2014 film A Girl At My Door and 2011 TV drama series Listen To My Heart. Kim landed her first adult lead role in 2016 TV drama Secret Healer, the same year she signed with YG Entertainment.

After appearing in 2018 thriller The Villagers and campus web drama Love Playlist, she left YG Entertainment and joined Gold Medalist with actors Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Yea-ji in 2020. Kim's career sadly took a hit after a drink driving incident in 2022. She was fined around £11,000 and struggled to land roles afterwards. Following the sad news of Kim's death, police have said they are treating it as suicide. "We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide," police said, as reported by the Yonhap news agency.

In 2022, Kim was cast in SBS drama Trolley but left the project just months later after suffering a DUI incident after drunk driving charges were filed against her. At the time, her agency had released a statement saying: "Kim Sae-ron is deeply reflecting on her apparent mistake. The damage caused by the crash is being compensated as much as possible. "I will do my best to take responsibility until the end." She later apologised on her Instagram account with a handwritten note which read: "First, I am sorry to inform you of the position after arranging the accident and damage situation. Yesterday May 18, 2022 around 8am in Gangnam, I had an accident that damaged public property. I made a big mistake while drinking.

"I caused damage to so many people, including merchants, citizens, and those who restored it. I should have acted more carefully and responsibly, but I couldn't. I sincerely apologize. We are working out the damage caused by the accident together with the company. I will do my best to communicate and actively resolve the matter until the end. I am very sorry to my fellow actors and staff as well as the production team for disrupting the production of the work that was being filmed and prepared.

"Once again, we deeply apologize and apologize for causing concern. There is no excuse for this unfortunate incident. I am disappointed and very ashamed of the mistakes I have made." She was fined ₩20 million (around £11,000) by the prosecutor of Seoul Central District Court in 2023. However, she later asked for leniency due to financial difficulties.
