Several London airports will introduce new flights to major destinations this year. Budget airlines Wizz Air and Norse Atlantic have announced that new services will begin in the summer and winter, respectively. Meanwhile, Ryanair and other airlines will open several new routes from the capital for the summer.

Here are the destinations the airlines will be arriving at:. Wizz Air will make the only non-stop flights from Gatwick to Medina, a holy Saudi Arabian city in the Islamic faith, this summer. The Hungarian low-cost airline will begin daily return flights between West Sussex's airport and Medina starting on August 1, using a new Airbus A321XLR. The first flight will depart London Gatwick for Jeddah on March 31.

Single fares are available from £233.99, with more than 174,000 seats to be offered annually to the holy city. "We are delighted to announce this new route from London Gatwick to Medina," said Marion Geoffroy, managing director at Wizz Air UK. "It marks an important milestone for the airline as we continue to expand our network from the UK beyond Europe.".

This new addition will strengthen Wizz Air’s extensive network in the Middle East, where it operates nearly 100 regional routes. Meanwhile, a new route to Warsaw will be launched on August 2, with single fares available from £35.99. While Wizz Air already operates daily flights to Warsaw from London Luton, a representative told the Standard the route will also be available from Gatwick.

Direct flights from London Gatwick to Bangkok will operate up to four times per week when the Norse Atlantic service is launched on October 26. Return fares will start from £295. Asia will now be added as a destination to Norse Atlantic’s flight roster, alongside the Atlantic and South Africa.

Ryanair has announced its summer 2025 schedule from the capital with 206 routes, including seven new ones from Stansted.

Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, said last month: “We are pleased to announce seven new summer 2025 routes from London to Bodrum, Clermont-Ferrand, Dalaman, Münster, Lübeck, Linz, and Reggio Calabria. We are also launching extra frequencies on 30 other London routes to exciting destinations like Gdansk, Ibiza, Malaga, and Rome.”.

A thrice-weekly service will operate from Heathrow to Rimini in Italy — known for its sandy beaches and clear waters — on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays between May 15 and September 27. Meanwhile, British Airways will launch its new Gatwick-Salerno service on May 22, operating on the same three days a week until October 25.

A new weekly service from London City to Olbia in Sardinia “will complement existing flights from Heathrow”. It will launch on May 25, increasing to a two-weekly service from July 16. The additions to Italian destinations this year will bring the total number of locations in Italy served by the UK flag carrier to an impressive 19.

On March 30, Virgin Atlantic will launch its first daily service from Heathrow to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Announced last September, the route will be operated on one of the airline’s newest aircraft, the A330neo.

Virgin Atlantic will return to Ghana’s capital for the first time since 2013, with daily flights resuming on May 1. The service will be operated on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. On October 19, Virgin Atlantic will begin flying from London Heathrow to the Mexican city Cancun. Known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich local cuisine, the destination promises a memorable getaway.

EasyJet is launching several new routes from the capital this year, as announced last year. These include:. London Luton airport will operate a new summer route to Paphos in Cyprus. A new route to Porto in Portugal will begin this summer from London Gatwick.
