A woman has bravely hit back at cruell trolls who mock her marriage and mistake her partner for her son. Lauren and her wife Hannah are only two years apart in age, but the couple have been hit with an onslaught of abuse - both online and in public - ever since they began their relationship. People are convinced that Hannah is a young boy but the couple refuse to let haters taint their love story. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony last summer, but the wedding went viral for all the wrong reasons, with trolls brutally branding Lauren a "peadophile" because her partner Hannah looks "like a 10-year-old". Lauren, 31, says the sinister messages are "madness" and insists Hannah, 29, is the love of her life.
When the couple posted snaps from their wedding day, some people even confused Lauren for Hannah's mum, but sadly this isn't even the worst part for Hannah,. While the pair now have a thick skin and mostly ignore the abuse online, it's harder for them to turn away from it in real life. Lauren said: "It bothers me more when we go to a supermarket and people will look over Hannah and try to talk directly to me because they assume I'm the 'mum'.".
And Hannah says she's constantly being confused for a little boy, and has to always have her ID to hand - including for home deliveries that involve age-limit items and age-restricted films at the cinema. "It doesn't matter that I have just driven there and they have seen me get out of the car, they just won't believe me. It's enough to put me off going to the shops full-stop," she said. "It does bother me being compared to a child when I'm with Lauren because of course that would make our relationship entirely inappropriate. Though I would always take being called a child over being called a paedophile," Hannah told The Sun.
Hannah noted that most of the comments are due to how she dresses, and critics ask her why she doesn't change her appearance to stop the trolling. But she said it's 2025 and having a 'butch partner' is a "well-known thing" so it's something she strongly feels she shouldn't have to hide. Her new wife has no complaints, and quickly fell for Hannah when they matched on Tinder two years ago. Lauren then proposed in January 2024 and the couple went on to marry seven months later at a registry office in Surrey. Now, in a defiant message to their haters, the couple are expecting triplets as Lauren is pregnant through IVF they underwent in Cyprus.
