The importance of keeping our bathrooms clean to maintain sanitation and prevent mould is well-known - but neglecting this duty could be detrimental to your health. Homeowners are now being alerted to bathroom odours that may signal a mould and bacteria infestation, potentially impacting health significantly. Common knowledge dictates that unpleasant smells can persist in bathrooms, yet it's crucial to identify harmful aromas to eliminate their sources. Experts suggest that a musty scent could indicate a leak in the bathroom, while a smell resembling rotting vegetables might point to mould growth.

The bathroom experts at Posh.co.uk have also highlighted that the odours of rotten eggs and cabbage are indicative of more severe issues that should not be overlooked. Andy Ellis from Posh.co.uk said: "It is no secret that bathrooms can harbour some nasty odours, but if the smells seem distinct and out of place, it could indicate something more serious.

"Signs of a more threatening presence lurking in the bathroom include the smell of rotten eggs, which could mean harmful bacteria is growing in the water systems.". He continued: "A lingering musty smell could also mean there is a hidden leak somewhere which could be increasing water bill prices. It can be difficult to pinpoint exactly where the odours are coming from, so if the usual cleaning routine isn't working it is well worth calling in a professional.".
