Ruben Amorim has revealed Marcus Rashford is "available" for Manchester United's FA Cup clash with Arsenal on Sunday. Rashford has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this month, having not featured in United's last six games across all competitions. After being left out of four consecutive matchday squads by Amorim, he did return to the bench for the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
However, he was not brought on during that game and illness meant he missed the 2-2 draw against Liverpool last weekend. Rashford has admitted he is ready for a "new challenge" and the forward is reportedly in talks to join AC Milan. Amorim, though, has admitted there is a chance Rashford could feature against Arsenal. "We will see, guys," he said in his pre-match press conference. "Let's focus on the game. He is available, he is training, we will see for this game.".
Amorim also played down United's chances of strengthening their squad with new signings in the January transfer window. "The first thing I think is… I don't remember to say clearly that I want new players," he explained. "What I said is that sometimes the profile for this system is different, and the players came here with a different idea of how to play. So I don't remember saying that so clearly, that I want new players. What I said is that we need to improve recruitment.
"When we are targeting players, we need to be sure that they will cope with the demands. Sometimes, you have to bet a little bit. And what I also said is that we have to improve our academy, to bring young kids that fills the club in the right way, and also with that rules, we are able to do some business and have some money to invest in the team.
