Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson shared her onstage "must-have" skincare especially when she needed to spend hours shooting in a studio with strong spotlights. Last month, the Avenger star took on a different job to co-host NBC's morning television show for a week and she found a way to keep her makeup in place - and it's her co-founded skincare brand The Outset Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum, which retails at £46 on Cult Beauty.

Sitting in her dressing room, Scarlett said: "So I'm guest-hosting The Today Show all this week, which means I have to get up early in the morning, spending hours under these lights and the last thing I want to worry about is my makeup. The key to makeup looking smooth and staying in place is creating great canvas with my skincare.

"As you guys know, that's why we made this [The Outset] Prep Serum, my absolute favourite desert island product, it's an all-in-one product that hydrates, boosts radiance, plumps out fine lines and wrinkles and most importantly, it doesn't pill under your makeup.".

Scarlett mentioned in another video that she created a line of 'super clean' products that could benefit her sensitive skin while delivering hydration and clinical efficacy without irritation. The bestselling Prep Serum is a powerhouse serum delivers an instant dewy glow while perfectly prepping your skin for the next steps in your routine. Use as the second step in your skincare routine, the signature Hyaluroset Complex, a botanical alternative to hyaluronic acid, imparts instant and lasting moisture to the skin.

With vegan collagen and a line-up of superfood extracts, it helps diminish hyper-pigmentation and age spots and boost radiance to improve dry, lacklustre skin. Scarlett's not the only one who praises The Outset Prep Serum, it has also received glowing reviews from online shoppers. One shared: "I have been using this for well over a year now and I couldn’t be more impressed by it. It’s lightweight and leaves my skin with the healthiest glow, even after falling asleep with makeup on. Works on all skin types sensitive or not.".

A repeated customer commented on how she enjoyed using it all year round: " Light consistency, one pump is enough for my face and neck, and I feel like my skin is more even and hydrated when I'm using it. It does have a slightly 'damp' smell, but I don't mind it as I avoid fragrances best I can.".

But a shopper had a lukewarm response and said despite she liked the consistency of the serum and how it felt on skin, she didn't repurchase as she "didn't see much result". To sensitive skin shoppers, it's a life-saver to keep their skin hydrated without flare-ups as one described the Prep Serum as a "nice big glass of water for my dehydrated skin".

The Outset Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum is available at Cult Beauty at £46, and alternatively Tatcha's The Silk Serum is a wrinkle-smoothing serum with retinoil alternatives and you can try the travel size at £38. For a more budget option, CeraVe's Skin Renewal Retinol Serum is a lightweight serum with a gel texture to help retain moisture and calm skin. It's stocked at Amazon for £19.12.
