Severed human hand found in Dublin primary school yard...

A SEVERED human hand was discovered lying in the yard of a primary school today after a bird dropped it. The limb was dropped into the grounds of Our Lady Immaculate school in Darndale, north Dublin at around 12:30pm. Gardai probing the grim find believe the hand belongs to a young boy who was injured in an accident on Thursday night in the same area.

The 12-year-old lost it in a gas canister explosion and was rushed to the Mater Hospital, where he remained yesterday with non-life threatening injuries. Cops suspect the bird lifted it up at some stage on Friday morning then before dropping it in the school, which was caught on CCTV, before someone came across it two hours later and alerted cops.

It is understood that other birds had been pecking at it on the ground before the grim find was made. Officers arrived and were seen kneeling down beside the hand as they examined it before the area was sealed off. The hand had the top of four fingers severed also and no thumb.

The scene was technically examined before the limb was brought away for examination. Gardai are confident it belongs to the boy and DNA tests were being carried out to confirm that tonight. The school was luckily closed for students, who are on their mid-term break.

A source told us: "Look it, it's a bizarre case, there's no doubt about that. "It appeared very random at first but there was an incident on Thursday night which gardai believe it relates to. "It was nothing sinister, just an accident involving a young boy.

"It's fortunate that the school had no students as such an incident would have caused mayhem if they were in there.". Forensic Science Ireland are carrying out DNA analysis to confirm the gardai's belief. A garda spokesman told the Irish Sun: "Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of partial human remains at a premises in Darndale, Dublin 17 this afternoon.

"A scene is currently being held and the State Pathologist has been notified, in line with standard practice. "The remains will be removed for examination and DNA analysis, which will assist Gardaí in confirming the identity and determine the course of the investigation.
