Sir Paul McCartney's fans issued a plea to Super Bowl bosses after his appearance. The Beatles legend is often seen in the stands at NFL games so it's not really surprising that he attended the Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Philadelphia Eagles. Sir Paul, 82, wasn't just the only famous face in the crowd – he was joined by the likes of Taylor Swift, Louis Tomlinson, Jay-Z, Blue-Ivy Carter, Samuel L Jackson, Serena Williams and Anne Hathaway to name just a few.

In his VIP suite, Sir Paul sat alongside Adam Sandler, Paul Rudd and Rob Manfred for the 59th Super Bowl. This year, the crowd were treated to a halftime performance from Kendrick Lamar, with SZA joining him on stage at one point. However, fans couldn't help but feel that another celebrity could have also given a performance. "Petition to let Paul McCartney do the halftime show," said one social media user. A second went on to pen: "They could have called in Paul McCartney. He was right there!" A third wrote: "Paul McCartney being there and anyone else doing the halftime show doesn't compute.".

Sir Paul previously played the Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005, held at the Alltel Stadium, now named the EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. During his set, he performed tracks including Drive My Car, the James Bond theme Live and Let Die, before closing his performance with Hey Jude. But while many expressed their desire to see Sir Paul back on stage at the Super Bowl, Kendrick, 37, had fans overjoyed with his performance. The rapper kicked off his set list with Squabble Up before going into HUBMLE. Many fans took to social media to express their joy, with one writing: "Not going to lie, Kendrick Lamar's performance brought me to tears. I've been such a fan for so long and the whole production was beautiful.".

"Kendrick Lamar. That's it. That's the tweet," said a second. This sentiment was echoed by a third who tweeted: "He really showed up and reminded everyone tonight why he's one of the greatest to ever do it." "Incredible halftime in my opinion, not the best I've seen, but it was up there," commented a fourth. Kendrick, however, wasn't the only performer of the evening. Pop super star Lady Gaga took to the stage to perform Hold My Hand.

The pre-recorded performance, which was filmed on Bourbon Street honoured the 14 people who were killed in the New Year's Day terror attack, as well as the Los Angeles wildfire victims, those who died in the airplane crashes in Philadelphia and Washington, as well as the people affected by Hurricane Helene. Despite hoping for a third consecutive victory, the Kansas City Chiefs were beaten to the top spot by the Eagles as they ran out 40-22 winners in New Orleans.
