Morgan Knowles has already spent half his life at St Helens - but would love to see out his entire career with them. The combative England loose forward enjoys a testimonial game against Salford later this month as he celebrates a stellar journey so far.

But he’s been with Saints more than the standard ten years: Knowles signed up aged just 14 and turned 28 in November so it’s a case of man and boy. With more than 200 games in his locker, four Grand Final wins, a World Club Challenge title and Challenge Cup glory, it would be no surprise if he remained a one-club man.

The popular Saints vice-captain, who’s out of contract at the end of this year, admitted: “It would be amazing. “It doesn’t happen too often nowadays to stay at one club all the way and for that amount of time. "It shows a lot about the person if they do: they’re obviously good enough and a good person to stay around, especially at a good club like Saints. If that happened, I’d be made up.”.

A proud Cumbrian who is renowned as one of Super League’s toughest players, Knowles has proved an example to many of how hard work pays off. He recalled: “Saints first started watching me back home up in Barrow where there’s no Super League teams there or near.

“I played in a Barrow and District game against St Helens Service Area Under 12s and from that they watched me for a couple of years. “They offered me a scholarship to come onto the Under 15s programme so I was 14 when I signed, driving up and down the motorway all the time.
