The Traitors fans have been left puzzled after rushing to complete their applications for the fourth series. Earlier this year, hooked on the third series of the show, which was won by Faithful contestants Leanne and Jake. In a nail biting finale, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the pair chose to banish both Alexander and Frankie, without realising they were both Faithful too. In the end, Leanne and Jake emerged victorious, splitting the huge prize fund of £94,600, meaning they each walked away with £47,300.
After seeing the huge win, viewers were desperate to be a part of the phenomenon, as the BBC show advertised they were taking applications for the next series. The fourth series is expected to air in early 2026, with filming starting later this year. When the final aired on January 24, fans had less than a month to get their applications in, as the closing date was set to the start of February. However, fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, have now noticed the closing date has been 'quietly extended'.
"Applications for #TheTraitors Series 4 have been extended to March 28th," a fan page announced. The date has also been updated on the official application page. Some fans were over the moon that they'd have more time to finish off their application, as one penned: "Thank god. My application crashed as I was. Finishing up," while a second echoed: "There was me rushing.". Others were left questioning why the date had been extended, questioning: "Why is that? Thought they’d hv no shortage of applications and stuff!".
In August, BBC confirmed an "unmissable" celebrity edition is in the works, after months of speculation. The news was announced at Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Thursday August 22, as the nine-part series will be dropping on BBC and iPlayer sometime after season 3. Mike Cotton, Creative Director Unscripted at Studio Lambert and Executive Producer for The Traitors added: “We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game. Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with Series 4 also confirmed too. There's a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands… Claudia’s going to have to pack some extra knitwear.”.
