This £12 lip stain is going viral on TikTok – and it’s Billie Eilish’s go-to

Lip stains first crept onto my radar circa 2006 when I religiously applied Benefit’s Benetint to my cheeks, wore MAC’s Honey Love matte lipstick and Dream Matte Mousse was all the craze. Lip stains then trickled off the radar, but are now coming back. Wonderskin launched the hugely popular lip stain, Wonder Blading Lip Stain Masque in 2020, now the trend has continued to gain popularity as more brands have launched similar fuss-free lip stain products.

One lip stain high on my radar is Sacheu Stayn Lip Liner, which has become an internet sensation in recent weeks after Billie Eilish reportedly shared she swears by the product. The affordable lip stain works in a similar way to Wonderskin’s design as you apply to your lips, whether you solely line your pout or fully colour them in, before peeling off the product to reveal a durable lip liner.

Sacheu Stayn’s Lip Liner has been selling out fast, which could be for a plethora of reasons: it is super easy to use, ultra hydrating, it comes in a variety of colours, or maybe it’s a combination of all three factors.  All we know is we need it in our beauty bag ASAP.

This longwear lip liner is applied as a liquid but dries matte. It is a fuss-free lip liner that is easy to apply, promises up to 12 hours of longwear, and is smudge-proof, budge-proof, as well as water resistant. It is a hydrating formula as it is infused with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. Available in five shades.

The lip liner is a hit because it is fuss-free and longlasting. The precise applicator makes it easy to apply on the outer lip without any wobbly lines, which is often visible when I use a fine pencil. The formula is also super hydrating, which is rare for lip liners. Typically if I use a nourishing lip liner it compromises on the holding power, but Sacheu Stayn aims to combat that. The formula has been infused with hyaluronic acid as well as vitamin E, which are nourishing, hydrating and gentle on the lips.

This lip stain is applied as a liquid formula, but dries so it can be peeled off the lips. It takes 10 to 15 minutes for the product to dry, which is when it is safe to peel off and reveal the pigmented colour underneath. We have to note that the colour of the lip stain that is applied to your lips at first is black, or a deep blue, but do not be scared, as that is not the colour that will remain for hours after it has been peeled off.

The lip stain comes in five colours, including vibrant Coreal, Getredy, Heyzel, Noohde, and P-Inked.  According to TikTok Heyzel is the most popular shade as it is a natural brown-nude tone, but we want every shade as they complement different make-up aesthetics.

Not only is the lip stain easy to apply and use, it can last for up to 12 hours of wear, doesn’t transfer, is budge-proof, smudge-proof and water resistant, which is every box ticked on my criteria when hunting for the best lip liner.  I personally can’t stand it when my lip liner bleeds out of my lips, it sits on my chin, or just sections of the lipliner have rubbed off yet some are still intact, hence why clear lip liners have become popular. However, if your lips look pale, then a subtle hint of colour like Sacheu Stayn is the solution.

This lip product can be worn on its own, as some shades are super natural, but it can be layered over your full lips too. Some may line their lips then apply a balm, lip gloss or lip oil over the top for an added boost of hydration, or perhaps a lipstick on top. This Sacheu Stayn is ultra versatile.
