Liam Payne made a heartwrenching gesture before he tragically died last year, according to his close friend. The One Direction star left his legion of loyal fans bereft when he fell from the third floor of his hotel suite in Argentina in October, aged 31. The star died after suffering multiple traumas leading to a fatal haemorrhage. However, before his shocking death, the troubled singer was known for his charitable nature and now Liam's pal, Roger Nores, has revealed his final acts of kindness.

Speaking about the That's What Makes You Beautiful star - who Roger says was 'one of the best friends he's ever had' - the energy sector tycoon said: "Liam wasn't a guy who flashed money around. He would eat at McDonald's and make jokes about other people wasting money at ludicrously expensive restaurants. For Liam, it was about where his money could make a difference.". Revealing the Wolverhampton-born star would donate to children who were fundraising for surgery, multiple times a week, he continued in the Mail: "Liam would stay up at night surfing the internet, looking for kids who were fundraising for surgery, but who were in danger of not meeting their target. He'd top up the remaining amount – and he would do this perhaps three times a week.".

Hours before his death, Liam donated thousands to a 28-year-old man, who is battling cancer. Over the years, the X Factor star was known for his love of helping others, whether that be volunteering at a food bank or donating large sums to help those less fortunate. One of the last people Liam helped was Jack, who has Stage 4 B Cell Lymphoma. Jack, a former cook told the Mirror he was unable to work due to his treatment and condition, which meant he was struggling financially. He explained that a GoFundMe page had been set up in his name with hundreds of donations - including one from Liam.

While some have donated hundreds to help Jack, Liam took time to donate £2.3k hours before his tragic passing. The star spent thousands on GoFundMe, helping those less fortunate than himself. But Jack initially had doubts as to whether it was a "prank" or somebody donating under a false name to preserve their anonymity. This, however, changed after Liam's death. Jack told us: "I thought it was a prank or someone donating under a false name in the interest of preserving their own anonymity, until reports started coming out about Liam’s acts of kindness during his final days.".
