Virgin River enthusiasts are desperate to find out if the hit Netflix show will carry on after a tumultuous season six. The recent series saw Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) finally say 'I do'. At the same time, Mel's estranged dad Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson) re-entered the scene, adding to the drama surrounding Brie (Zibby Allen) and Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth).

After a finale that left fans reeling, with Brady's new flame Lark (Elise Gatien) nicking his life savings post-confession to Brie, Hollingsworth has let slip some juicy details about what's next for the beloved small-town saga. While Netflix hasn't officially given the thumbs up for an eighth season, he's pretty sure it's on the cards, reports the Mirror US.

He shared a recent chat with showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, who goes by Sean, who's already plotting the show's trajectory. "I just had a conversation with Sean, and obviously, we need to be renewed for season eight, but he's already thinking toward that," Hollingsworth said.

The script team is eagerly awaiting the green light from Netflix, but they're not short of ideas for future episodes. However, Virgin River's continuation isn't set in stone - the show got a double renewal for seasons four and five back in 2021, but the same didn't happen for seasons six and seven.

Netflix chiefs might be crunching the numbers on season six's performance before making any decisions about the future of the show. But fans need not fret too much, as the series usually rockets to the top of Netflix's charts following a new drop, with season six raking in an impressive 8.1 million views in just its opening week.
