A woman has been left in a sticky situation after trying to wash her new crockery - only to find herself battling with stubborn labels that refuse to budge. She took to Reddit to share her frustration, detailing how she spent 20 minutes "picking at the sticker" without any success in removing the pesky adhesive from the centre of her bowls. "Okay so I am trying the different advice I was given. So far, boiling water and Dawn dish soap doesn't work," she posted.

"In the second picture, I spent 20-plus minutes picking at the sticker, then soaked in boiling water with soap, then scrubbed with a Scrub Daddy for about five minutes and there is still adhesive in the bowl.". The exasperated woman is now contemplating chucking the lot and buying new, label-free dishes. However, not wanting to give up just yet, she queried: "Seriously asking, if I use Goo Gone, will it wash completely off afterward and be safe to eat out of?".

In a bid to rescue the crockery from being tossed out, fellow Reddit users chimed in with various solutions, ranging from WD-40 and cooking oil to white vinegar and even using a hair dryer to soften the glue. One user suggested: "Cooking oil and a scrubby, then wash with dish soap. The oil is going to break up the adhesive, and the soap will break up the oil." Another chimed in with: "Try isopropyl alcohol and the rough side of a sponge. You can also try scraping at it with a razor blade with the alcohol soaking it.".
