The World Open is seeing a lot of big names stumble early on as the likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, Mark Selby and Mark Allen are all out before the last 16 stage. Trump arrived in Yushan having won the last two editions of the event and looked very strong in his opening two wins.

However, Joe O’Connor was impressive in beating the world number one in the last 32 on Tuesday, ending a 16-match winning streak in the competition for the Ace. Allen was shocked early on by David Lilley while Liu Hongyu beat Selby who had been in great form in winning the Welsh Open just a few days earlier.

There have been impressive performances so far from big names, though, with Shaun Murphy shining brighter than anyone. The Magician made a 147 in his 5-0 win over wildcard player Zhou Jinhao and then followed that up with another 5-0 whitewash of Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
