Puy du Fou has begun public consultation for its ambitious £600m plans fora historical theme park near Bicester in Oxfordshire. The proposed attraction promises to transport visitors back in time with four period villages and 13 live shows where they can "immerse themselves in British history". Expected to operate from April to October, the park also plans to feature three hotels each themed around different eras of British history, alongside restaurants, a conference centre, and an array of natural landscapes including ponds, lakes, gardens, over 40 acres of wildflower meadows, and the planting of 20,000 new trees.
The company invites feedback on the proposals through their website at www.puydufouconsultation.co.uk, which hosts detailed plans for the park. Additionally, three consultation events are scheduled for February. The first is at Weyland Hall in Bicester on February 6 from 12pm to 7pm. The second is at Whately Hall Hotel in Banbury on February 7 from 12pm to 7pm, and the third is at Bucknell Village Hall on February 8 from 10am to 5pm.
Olivier Strebelle, the chief executive of Puy du Fou, commented on the community engagement, saying, "After announcing our initial concepts last year, we held consultation events in Bucknell, Bicester and Oxford, and have since met hundreds of local people and organisations.".
He added: "This has helped us draw up proposals that will create a world-class destination that excites British visitors with their own history while still being a good neighbour to local people. We want to create a setting of beautiful gardens and wildflower meadows, and the first new forest in Oxfordshire for generations, covering 50 acres and with 20,000 new trees being planted.
