If you love the combination of smooth chocolate, popping candy, and chewy sweets, then you’re in for a treat. That’s because discount supermarket Aldi has just launched an Easter version of a cult product. The Dairyfine Curious Inventions bar, which comes in white or milk chocolate and is filled with popping candy and cherry jellies, has been transformed into a £3.99 egg for the Spring season. And it’s likely to prove very popular with shoppers, as the original chocolate bar has long been compared to a Cadbury favourite – the Marvellous Creations, which is strikingly similar, but made with either Cadbury White or Dairy Milk chocolate.

The Aldi version of the beloved bar sells for £1.65, meaning shoppers will save over 50p compared to if they purchased the Cadbury one which retails at £2.37. According to those who’ve tried both, the Aldi chocolate has been hailed as the superior choice, which might surprise some. Taking to the popular Facebook page Snack Reviews, Aine Danger Nic Cionnaith, wrote: ‘Cheaper fix for my Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations addiction lol.’.

As Lauren Dickson said: ‘Oh my days I’d be in heaven’, while Ella Mae wrote: ‘Looks better than the Cadbury ones, they barely have much of the good bits inside anymore.’. And Mazz Huxley also weighed in and commented on the post: ‘Love these!’. However, not everyone agreed it was better, and some have called out the sugary snack for tasting ‘cheap’ and declaring they won’t be purchasing it again.

Lucy Beetham commented: ‘Not even comparison to the Cadburys version. It’s a definite no from our house’. Camille Trevett shared: ‘Didn’t rate them last time they had them in, you can tell they are a cheap chocolate bar’. While Mike Burgess added: ‘That chocolate looks horrible and cheap.’. It’s not the first time Aldi has taken inspiration from chocolate giant Cadbury’s, who are estimated to sell approximately 350 million bars of their classic Dairy Milk each year.

Around this time last year, shoppers were delighted to find their favourite discontinued snack, a thin and light milk chocolate curve called Cadbury’s Snaps, had almost reappeared in the form of Aldi’s £1.79 pack of Choceur Waves. The treat had been around for a while, but they only caught the attention of chocolate lovers after Dan B Drake posted in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group to let fellow shoppers know about the bargain supermarket item.

Much like Cadbury’s version of the Pringle-shaped chips, they came in a variety of flavours, including milk chocolate, orange, and salted caramel. Do you have a story to share?.
