Emma Raducanu has parted ways with coach Nick Cavaday, and a potential partnership with Andy Murray isn't out of the equation following Novak Djokovic's injury-forced withdrawal from the Australian Open. Raducanu, 22, was eliminated in the third round in Melbourne at the hands of Iga Swiatek and has now been hit with another blow. Her coach Cavaday has been forced to step down due to health concerns.
Murray, who hung up his racket post-Paris Olympics, is also facing an uncertain future. His partnership with the 24-time Grand Slam winner was to be re-considered after the first Grand Slam of the year, and Djokovic's injury now adds further doubt. With the alliance hanging in the balance, the Scottish tennis icon may one day be teaming up with his fellow Brit. Past remarks and mutual respect suggest such an idea could be welcomed.
With Cavaday bowing out after a 14-month stin, citing the need to manage a chronic health issue, Raducanu is on the hunt for her seventh full-time coach since 2021. "I am very happy to have been able to work with Emma over the last 14 months," Raducanu's now-former coach said. "At this moment in time, it's important for me to spend some more time at home and prioritise getting back to full health, which is hard to do with the extensive calendar.".
