Andy Robertson insists Liverpool can sign anyone - but he's determined to remain the first choice left-back despite some difficult moments this term. Robertson has proved to be one of the greatest value for money captures the Reds have ever made. He's commanded his position since early in the Jurgen Klopp era but this year his performances have included some rare errors, which has seen him criticised.

Liverpool haven't had to consider additions to their full-back ranks for years with Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold often so reliable. Robertson insists, despite a red card against Fulham nearly costing his side, that he's able to quickly brush off criticism and he remains determined to play every minute even if Liverpool choose to bring in a world-class replacement. He told Sky Sports: "I think I've been in the game long enough where it doesn't hurt me anymore, but the fact is that I've been the starting left-back for Liverpool for eight years.

“I'm very proud of that because it's not easy to achieve that at a club of this size when they can go out and sign anyone really in the world. I want to still be the starting left-back. But you've got to take it on the chin. If people want to criticise me then so be it. “I do believe that football is getting a bit like that where they try and find scapegoats and things like that. Maybe it's my turn now. But if it's my turn at the moment then it's taking the spotlight off of other players.".

Robertson has highlighted that some of the other elite performers, namely Kyle Walker, have had to cop negativity despite their stellar careers. The Liverpool man claims that people can be quick to right off players and joked "a couple of below par performances and all of a sudden he's finished.". Walker has since left Manchester City and opted for a new challenge with AC Milan, who have signed him on loan. Robertson added: "It’s part and parcel of football. There's so many voices in football, we are all used to it.".
