Arsenal fear Gabriel Jesus is in for another lengthy lay-off with a knee injury. Gunners striker Jesus underwent scans on Monday to discover the extent of the injury suffered against Manchester United in the FA Cup. Arsenal are now waiting on the results but manager Mikel Arteta voiced fears straight after the game that it was another heartbreaking blow for Jesus.

"Big worry. That's my feeling," he said. "He had to come off on a stretcher with a lot of pain. Touching his knee, it's not looking good. The worrying factor is the feeling that he had. He had to come off and the pain that he was in.". Brazil star Jesus had just rediscovered form and was coming back to his best but now looks set to miss out again. That will only turn up the heat on Arsenal to recruit another forward in the January transfer window.

They do have scope to spend under Profit and Sustainability Rules in January and also in the summer but Arsenal are keen not to do a panic buy. January deals are notoriously difficult but if they were able to bring forward one of there summer targets then that would appeal and also give the squad a lift.

They tried for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko last summer and he remains on their radar as a long term transfer target. Arsenal are also one of several big clubs tracking Nico Williams with the Athletic Bilbao winger having a £55m buy-out clause but his £300,000-a-week wage demands will be a stumbling block.
