Aston Villa have rekindled their interest in Joao Felix - and they could yet launch an ambitious bid for the Chelsea star before next week's transfer deadline. Felix, 25, only joined the Blues permanently back in the summer for £38.4million. He was thought to be Unai Emery's top target back then, however, the Portugal star was set on a return to Stamford Bridge after a previous loan spell.
Things haven't gone to plan for Felix this season, though, and he has struggled for game time under Enzo Maresca, who has an abundance of attacking riches at his disposal. And that could open the door for Villa, who would be keen on bringing Felix in according to The Sun.
While it remains to be seen if Villa would take Felix on a permanent basis or not, their interest in Blues defender Axel Disasi - who it seems likely will join them on loan - means they would have to take the former Atletico Madrid man on permanently.
Premier League rules prevent clubs from having more than one player on loan from a league rival, which would kill any chances of signing Felix on loan. While Felix has started just three Premier League games this season, the forward - who joined Atletico Madrid for £112m previously - did catch the eye in his first spell at Chelsea during the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
