Australian music icon Daryl Braithwaite has been forced to cancel scheduled Sydney concerts due to a shock health scare. The Horses singer, 76, shared the news to social media earlier this week in a heartbreaking statement. 'I have had to cancel today's Cronulla gig due to a medical condition. It is so frustrating trying to make my voice work when it breaks down,' Daryl began.

He added he was taking medication in the hopes of quickly getting back to his old self. 'You try all of the old and new secret remedies and hope. Many thanks.'. Many of Daryl's fans quickly took to the comment section to send him their well wishes. 'Take care of yourself. Hope to be on mend soon,' one person wrote. 'You will be back better than ever very soon,' a second user added. The Melbourne-born singer soared to huge fame in the '70s and scored countless hits with his iconic band Sherbet. But after the band split in 1984, Daryl decided to turn his back on music - and recently revealed why he briefly decided to shun the limelight.

After first attempting to go solo in his music career, the singer went on the dole and found an everyday gig as a council road worker. He revealed he found it disheartening trying to secure gigs in clubs without his former bandmates Tony Mitchell, Garth Porter, Alan Sandow and Clive Shakespeare.
