Bad news for Glastonbury fans in February as they are warned ‘don’t get hopes up’

Those with Glastonbury 2025 tickets may be wondering when on earth the line-up is going to be announced – but they will likely be waiting in vain this month. As February dawns – and Glastonbury Festival is just a short five months away – lucky ticketholders who bagged a space in the 36-minute window last November are impatiently awaiting line-up news. So far only Sir Rod Stewart and Neil Young have been confirmed as headliners for the Worthy Farm festival, taking place at the end of June.
But X Glastonbury experts @TheGlastoThings – who keep tabs on the when festival announcements arrive each year – have warned fans not to get their hopes up that a line up announcement will come this month. Last year was the longest time fans had waited in 17 years for a single act confirmation from the festival, with not a peep from organiser Emily Eavis until March 14 when the first poster dropped.
Pointing out that the last headliner announcement to come in February was eight years ago in 2017, the X account said: ‘So don’t get your hopes up. Expect the 1st line-up poster in March.’. However they did urge their 40,000 followers to remember that there is ‘no pattern’ when it comes to Glastonbury announcement timelines. It’s likely though that the full line up poster will come in March, as it did in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2020, and 2019.
While there’s only been Neil and Sir Rod confirmed, there are lots of rumours flying around over who could be headlining. The key potential players for the Pyramid Stage are Sam Fender, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter, while Charli XCX is rumoured to be taking an Other Stage headline slot. Up Next. A a source told The Sun in December: ‘Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo and Charli XCX will all play Glastonbury next summer. ‘Charli will headline The Other Stage and Chappell will be playing the Pyramid Stage. ‘Olivia is coming straight to Worthy Farm after playing BST Hyde Park, so her slot is being firmed up.’. While all tickets are sold out, there will be a resale some time in April, where empty-handed hopefuls have their last shot at attending the 2025 festival before the fallow year in 2026.
Maggie May singer Sir Rod was the first line up announcement from the festival, and he will be taking to the Pyramid Stage for the Sunday afternoon Legends slot. Next came Old Man hitmaker Neil Young – though his announcement wasn’t exactly standard procedure. Glastonbury confirmed Heart of Gold hitmaker Neil, 79, would be headlining in January after he initially took to social media to announce he was not going to be performing at the festival out of principle.
Young took to his website to reveal that after being asked to go about his performance at the festival in a specific way, he and his band were no longer interested in performing at Worthy Farm. ‘The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all-time favorite outdoor gigs. We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in,’ he said in a statement.
‘It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being. Thanks for coming to see us the last time!. ‘We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour because it is a corporate turn-off, and not for me like it used to be. Hope to see you at one of the other venues on the tour,’ the open letter concluded. However just days later Neil took to social media again to announce he would be playing after all, and his previous refusal was made due to an ‘error in the information received’.
The blog post read: ‘Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved. ‘Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there! LOVE Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts’. Glastonbury Festival takes place on Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 25 to 29 2025. Got a story?.
