AS the year comes to a close, award nominees are being revealed for the biggest games of the year. While we’ve seen the nominees for The Game Awards being revealed already, it’s now the turn of the Baftas. Unlike The Game Awards, The Baftas first reveal the longlist of games that could end up nominated in one of the academy’s categories.

There are 58 games as part of the Baftas’ longlist, with 10 games listed for the prestigious Best Game award. The Baftas’ Best Game longlist mirrors the nominees for a number of different award shows, with a few exceptions. One of the surprises from the longlist is Thank Goodness You’re Here!, an unapologetically British game.

With absurdist humour similar to Monty Python, it’s a short animated adventure that is filled with joy from start to finish. More smaller or indie games have made the Baftas’ list compared to other big gaming award shows. This is common for the Baftas, as Vampire Survivors infamously won the Best Game award at the show two years ago.
