Fans of hit comedy-drama Boarders are already pleading for more episodes as the second season lands on the BBC. The BBC Three show – created by and starring Daniel Lawrence Taylor – boasts an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and follows five inner-city Black kids who are sent to an elite, majority white, boarding school on a scholarship to help salvage the school’s reputation.

But students Jaheim (Josh Tedeku), Leah (Jodie Campbell), Toby (Sekou Diaby), Omar (Myles Kamwendo) and Femi (Aruna Jalloh) soon run into trouble at the traditional institution. The first season saw plenty of teenage antics as Jaheim climbed his way up the ranks of St Gilberts, Leah staged an in-school protest at the backwards art adorning the walls and the new students faced money woes, family troubles and failed romances – to name a few.

After such an acclaimed first season, the coming-of-age series returned with another six-episode run earlier this week guest starring EastEnders’ Natalie Cassidy and The Traitors’ Alan Cumming. The new season checks back in with our St Gilberts crew as the cunning Carol (Niky Wardley)takes over as acting headmistress and gives the scholarship kids an ultimatum – only three of the five can remain.

As each of them scramble to secure their future, the usual shenanigans ensue and fans are already demanding more after a dramatic finale. ‘Just finished season 2 of Boarders…I genuinely need a season 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10 announcements like yesterday because we’ve only just TOUCHED the surface of what this show could be I need MORE,,’ @kimkimdaya wrote on X. ‘BBC if you can hear us…. Please 6 more seasons please …,’ @kimblenn123 shared.

‘I need season 3 like yesterday!’ @ebz_tweetz echoed. ‘The scene on the couch was pure cinema,’ @akimldn teased about one moment in the new episodes. ‘Oh my days you cant leave us like this BBC we need s3 right neowwww,’ @nyimx_ shared. ‘Season 2 down. Where’s season 3?’ @rachelwithan_e agreed. And plenty of fans already have hopes and dreams for the next season – especially concerning our fan-favourite duo Jaheim and Leah.

‘So…..when are Leah and Jaheim gonna happen?’ @ladyvimx asked. ‘Idk but Jaheim and Florence are kinda doing something for me,’ @laurenxo_x added. ‘The way they look at each other IM GOING DOWN’ @vcnerika shared. In an interview with Metro, Josh and Jodie reflected on what it is about this show that appealed to them and the growing fanbase. Josh said: ‘When I read the script it was the first thing that had the depth that I wanted and the range of a Black story, rather than it just being a certain type of Black story. That really excited me.’.

And Jodie agreed: ‘It’s that typical “fish out of water” story that not only Black people can relate to but anyone who has been in a space where they haven’t been fully accepted can watch Boarders and be like “okay I’ve felt this before”. ‘I think it will talk to a lot of people. But, again, it still has the comedy elements from other coming-of-age dramas that we all know and love. Tried and tested. So it’s a mixture of both.’.
