Claudie Blakley, who plays Mrs Devine on the much-loved 1950's crimes series, has dropped a major hint about an upcoming storyline that could see two main characters flee Kembleford for good. The actress, 51, let slip that she and her husband-to-be Chief Inspector Edgar Sullivan, played by Tom Chambers, will face a difficult decision that could see them both relocate for London as they prepare to say "I do".
Fans were left on the edge of their seats as the series wrapped up on romance cliffhanger. Edgar finally plucked up the courage to get down on one knee and ask for Mrs Devine's hand in marriage. The gesture had been long awaited by viewers after following their blossoming relationship across the past three seasons. Now as we enter season 12, wedding bells are clearly in the air, much to delight of fans.
Speaking about the new instalments and nuptials plans in full swing, Claudie explained that all wasn't as it seemed and difficult choice would need to be made if the wedding were to go ahead. Claudie explained that friction could be in the air with regards to plans for her special day following the Lady Felicia's keen intervention: "We've taken three series to get here, but here we are finally!.
"Lady Felicia is helping out with the wedding planning but she gets carried away with the flowers and hair and Mrs Devine lets her take over a bit, so the day is at risk of not turning out how Mrs Devine wanted her day to be.". Meanwhile, as cogs are put into motion for the happy couple, it appears there is a huge spanner in the works for married-couple to be. They face a huge barrier with Edgar's father who puts forward his own stipulations for the wedding.
