BBC One is set for a major schedule change tonight (Monday, 27 January), with popular programmes like The One Show pulled from the line-up. Typically, the channel's weekday evenings consist of The One Show at 7pm, followed by EastEnders at 7.30pm. However, on Monday, these shows will be replaced by a one-off 60-minute special.
Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 will air from 7pm, featuring presenter Reeta Chakrabarti exploring Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. The BBC's synopsis reads: "Eighty years after the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, survivors and VIPs attend a unique commemoration to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, hosted by Reeta Chakrabarti.".
It continues: "The ceremony commemorates the six million Jewish men, women and children who were brutally murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust, and other victims of Nazi persecution. It also commemorates those who were murdered in the genocide in Bosnia 30 years ago and in other more recent genocides.
"Through music, readings and powerful personal testimony, the victims of these appalling events are remembered. Among those taking part in this annual event are cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the Countess of Wessex's String Orchestra and Rob Rinder.". Following this, Holocaust Memorial Day 2025: National Moment will broadcast live coverage of iconic buildings and landmarks across the country illuminated in purple for a moment of commemoration. This brief segment will also be presented by Reeta, reports Wales Online.
