Billy Ray Cyrus has expressed his concern for his family, stating he is "praying" for them. The 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer has spoken out for the first time since his eldest son Trace Cyrus, 35, voiced concerns about him. Billy Ray and his daughters Brandi, 37, Miley, 32, and Noah, 25, are reportedly "genuinely worried" about Trace.
In a heartfelt social media post, the country star, 63, expressed his hope for healing and reconciliation within the family. Billy Ray posted a clip from his 2009 music video 'Somebody Said a Prayer', which features Trace - whom he adopted in 1993 when he married his now ex-wife Tish Cyrus. The video was accompanied by a message to his family on his YouTube channel.
He captioned the video: "Sunday callin'. Giving thanks for the California Rain . Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children ... sons and daughters...and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. 'The past does not equal the future.' Amen.".
This comes after Billy Ray's unusual performance at Donald Trump's Liberty Inaugural Ball last week, which led Trace to admit that he "barely recognises" his father anymore and accused him of "pushing away" his children. Trace shared on Instagram: "Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.
"Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it's become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you've pushed all of us away.".
