A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the alleged murder of schoolboy Leo Ross - and a string of other offences. Ross, 12, was fatally stabbed as he cycled through the country park in Hall Green, Birmingham, on his way home from school at around 3:40pm on Tuesday January 21, and sadly died in hospital at around 7.30pm.

The boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was charged by detectives on Saturday afternoon with murder and possession of a bladed article - and has been remanded into custody to appear in court on Monday. Following a thorough investigation by West Midlands Police, the 14-year-old boy has been charged with six additional assaults, none of which involved the use of a knife. All of the victims of those offences have been notified and are being supported by officers.

The charges include:. In a statement, the force said: "Our specialist officers continue to support Leo’s family and we have informed them of the latest developments. "The tragic death of Leo has had a devastating impact on his family, friends, school and the wider community. Our officers continue to have a high-profile presence in the area to offer support and reassurance. The investigation into Leo’s death continues and we are still appealing for anyone with information.".

Locals said the park, which is used as a shortcut by school kids, has been plagued by anti-social behaviour. Leo was just minutes away from his home when he was attacked. He was airlifted to hospital after being stabbed in the stomach but later died from his wounds.
