Bluey fans are ‘worried’ about the future of the children’s TV show after creator Joe Brumm’s statement. Joe, 46, announced on the show’s official website he would be stepping away from the animated series after six years as he ‘couldn’t wrap his head around doing more seasons’.

However, he assured viewers Bluey would continue but under a different stewardship while he concentrates on the cartoon’s first film to be released in 2027. Fans, though, are concerned about a ‘possible drop in quality’ if Joe is no longer helming Bluey as the show is his creative visions.

On Reddit, AnythingAlfred explained: ‘Considering how much of a fantastic writer he is and how much he understands the characters, I’m a bit worried about a possible decline in quality if another writer or writers take his place.’. Echoing their sentiment, Roysumai wrote: ‘It’s scary, and Bluey’s such a singular vision that it’s only right that it is, but I choose to be optimistic.

I’m writing this to share some Bluey news – some good, some trifficult. Let’s start with the good – after some time spent away from the series, working on another project, an old idea resurfaced and before I knew it, I’d written a Bluey feature script that I really love. Fast forward through a tonne of contracting and we’re about to embark on making an animated Bluey movie!.

Now, for the trifficult. I always said I wouldn’t keep making the show if I thought I couldn’t make any new season as good as the last. This would have been the case for me with a potential season four, so I’ve decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series. In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, The Sign will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such.
