A brilliant home run coming up against strong away form equalled stalemate on the South Coast. Free-scoring Bournemouth were frustrated by Oliver Glasner’s dogged Eagles though the Cherries did extend their unbeaten streak to six games to keep alive their impressive season and hopes of a European place.

Bournemouth had already beaten Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham at home, form which has sparked talk of a potential first-ever European campaign for the Dorset club. Palace were unbeaten in their last four away outings, though they don’t tend to fare well on Boxing Day. Here, they were able to recall the influential Eberechi Eze after a foot injury had ruled him out of the 5-1 home thrashing by Arsenal.

It was Glasner’s side who had the first opportunity, a shot which Jean-Phillipe Mateta pulled wide after Will Hughes had found him in a pocket of space. Dango Ouattara was finding space down the Bournemouth left and had sight of goal after 20 minutes but put his shot just beyond the far post.
