BREAKING: Man Utd star Alejandro Garnacho wins FIFA Puskas Award for astonishing goal Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho has won the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal of the past 12 months for his remarkable overhead kick against Everton.
Reliving the goal before the award, which was handed out at the FIFA Best Gala on Tuesday night, Garnacho said: “Diogo crossed the ball, and it was a little bit behind me, so it was impossible for a header.
"More people said, ‘Why are you always trying this, just head the ball!’ I said, ‘Relax, I am trying to do my thing.’ When I scored, I said to them, ‘This is why I’m training this finish every time!’.
United captain Bruno Fernandes joked that the goal was a long time coming for Garnacho, who had attempted similar remarkable finishes in training.
The Argentina international sent a stunning bicycle kick effort beyond the dive of Jordan Pickford and into the top corner of the net following Diogo Dalot's deep cross in the third minute of the match, which United went on to win 3-0.
