Three teenagers have died in a horrific car crash in Wakefield. According to West Yorkshire Police, an 18-year-old and two 19-year-olds died after the car they were in smashed into a tree on Friday evening. The crash happened just outside the village of West Bretton at around 8.30pm last night. They had been driving in a black Seat Ibiza car travelling along the road towards Wooley.

Emergency services were called to the scene where two passengers aged 19 and the driver, aged 18, were confirmed to have died. Two other passengers, both male, were taken to hospital. One remains in hospital with injuries that are described as life-threatening. The other man has injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information that can help is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 1810 of January 24. Major Collision Enquiry Team officers have appealed for anyone who may have seen the collision or the vehicle before the crash, or anyone with dashcam footage, to get in touch.

West Yorkshire Police senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the loss of three lives and fourth person suffering critical injuries. Our thoughts go out to the families of those involved who we are working with to provide support.

"Our specialist collision investigators are establishing the circumstances surrounding this fatal collision and I would urge anyone who may have seen the car involved or who may have dashcam or other video footage that will help our enquiries to please contact us.".
